Ingredients

  • 3 cups natural bran
  • 3 cups All Bran cereal
  • 2/3 cup wheat germ
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 cups buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 Tbsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

1. Mix bran,All Bran cereal and wheat germ in a large bowl;add boiling water,mix and set aside.
2. Cream oil and sugars in a large mixing bowl. Stir in molasses.
3. Beat in eggs,one at a time
4. Add buttermilk and blend well (Batter may look curdled
5. Stir in raisins or dates
6. Mix flour,baking soda and salt;gradually stir into batter;stir in bran mixture;mix thoroughly
7. Spoon batter into large glass container,cover and refrigerate 24 hours or more. DO NOT FREEZE DO NOT STIR
8. Spoon into greased or paper lined muffin cups
9. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes
