Ingredients

  • 12 oz uncooked ziti or small tube pasta
  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 24 oz spaghetti sauce
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 (15) oz ricotta
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Step 1

Cook pasta according to package directions.  Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook the beef over medium heat until no longer pink, drain.  Stir in sauce.

In a large bowl, combine eggs, ricotta, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese and the parmesan cheese..  Drain pasta and add the cheese mixture until blended.

Spoon 1/3 of the meat sauce into a greased 13x9 baking dish; top with 1/2 the pasta mixture.  Repeat layers, ending with sauce.

Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until it reaches 160 degrees.  Uncover and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella.  Bake 5-10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.  Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
