Baked: Scone: Chocolate Chip Scone


Chocolate chip scones doesn't sound like the most wholesome meal. But let's take a look at what we're doing here. Almond flour for healthy fat and protein. Unsweetened applesauce to replace some of the oil in the recipe. Raw honey as a more natural, less damaging sweetener. Finally, 85% cocoa chocolate for great antioxidants—and rich flavor, of course. There's a lot of great benefits in these scones that you won't find at Starbucks. This is why it pays to take control over what you're eating.

Baked:  Scone: Chocolate Chip Scone 1 Picture


  • 2 1/2 cups almond flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3 tbs grapeseed oil
  • 2 tbs unsweetened applesauce
  • 3 tbs raw honey
  • 2 whole omega-3 eggs
  • 1 bar of 85% cocoa chocolate (3.5 oz), chopped into small chunks



Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper of Silpats.

In a bowl, mix together the almond flour, salt and baking soda.

In another bowl, whisk the oil, applesauce, honey and eggs.

Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until thoroughly combined.

Fold in the chopped chocolate with a spatula.

Drop batter 1/4 cup at a time onto the baking sheets, allowing for 2–3 inches of space between scones.

Bake 14–17 minutes or until lightly golden.

Remove the scones from the oven and allow to cool on the sheets for 30 minutes. Serve.
