Ingredients

  • 1 package (3 oz) cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine (firm)
  • 2 cups bisquick mix
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • Cream Cheese Filling
  • 1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp grated lemon peel
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • Beat all ingredients on medium speed til smooth.

Step 1

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheet. Cut cream cheese and butter into Bisquick. Stir in milk. Turn dough onto surface well dusted with bisquick. Roll in bisquick to coat. Kenad 8-10 times.
Roll dough into rectangle, 12x8 inches. Place on cookie sheet. Spread cream cheese filling down center of rectangle. Make cuts, 2 1/2 inches long, at 1 inch intervals on 12 inch sides of rectangle. Fold strips over filling, overlapping strips. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over top.
Bake 12-15 mins or until golden. Cool 10 minutes. Carefully place on wire rack. Cool completely. Spoon pie filling down center of coffee cake. Sprinkle with walnuts.
