Ingredients
- 2 lbs veal stew meat
- 1-2 tbsp crisco
- 1-2 white onion cut in chunks
- 1 cup cider vinegar
- 1 cup water
- salt & pepper
- cheese cloth
- 1 tbsp.Pickling spice
- 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
- bay leaf
- flour & water for thickening
Preparation
Step 1
Brown stew meat in melted crisco until brown on all sides adding a few of the pieces at a time to brown meat and not steam.
return all meat to pot with onion and cover with vinegar and water. pickling spice (tied in cheese cloth, bay leaf, salt & pepper.
Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for about an hour or until meat breaks apart easily with spoon. Remove spice and bay leaf.
Thicken with flour and water.
Serve over buttered egg noodles.
