Sausage and Bacon Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork sausage
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 tablespoon butter
  • 4 tablespoon flour
  • 2 chicken bullion cubes
  • 2 cup half-and-half
  • 1 cup milk (add as needed when cooking)
  • 1 tsp sage
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 dashes of Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 2 Tbsp Fresh parsley and green onion
  • 12 freshly baked biscuits (use your favorite recipe or you can use store-bought

Preparation

Step 1

In a large skillet cook bacon till crisp and remove. Cook sausage until browned and crumbles and remove to separate bowl. Keep two tablespoons of bacon and sausage fat and add butter and onion cooking till slightly soft. Add garlic and heat slightly. Stir in flour and add crumpled bullion cube, cook till flour slightly brown. Gradually stir in half-and-half. Add remaining spices and Worcestershire Sauce.

Add bacon and sausage into gravy and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thickened. Stir in milk to thin as needed.
