Ingredients
- 3 slices bacon, diced
- 1 cup chopped cabbage
- 1/2 cup chopped romaine
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1 carrot, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 16 oz can diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 cup elbow macaroni
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/2 ts basil
- 3 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 16 oz can navy beans or garbanzo beans, drained

Preparation
Step 1
Cook bacon in large pot until brown. Stir in 5 cups water, cabbage, romaine, celery, carrot, onion, tomatoes, parsley & garlic. Simmer uncovered 40 minutes.
Stir in macaroni, oregano, basil & salt. Dissolve flour in 1/2 cup cold water. Stir flour mixture into vegetable mixture. Heat to boil, stirring constantly. Cook & stir 10 minutes or until thickened & macaroni is cooked. Stir in beans. Cook 5 minutes.
This is 1/2 recipe. If you don't have romaine, increase celery to 1 cup. To make a full recipe use a can each of navy beans & garbanzo beans.
