Slow cooked saurkraut

Ingredients

  • 4-12 oz cans saurkraut
  • 3 large potatoes
  • 3 apples
  • 1 tbsp caraway seed
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 lb. crisp bacon crumbled
  • 1/4 lb. butter

Preparation

Step 1

Drain the juice from the kraut and retain the juice for later if you want to add back some sour.
Add water to cover and cook the potato in water til tender.
smash the potato, add to the draut. Grate the apple into the mix, add all the other ingredients and simmer slowly on the stove top uncovered 2-2 1/2 hours.
