Strawberry Heart Oreo Cookies

You don't need cookie cutters to make these heart-shaped sandwich cookies. The color and flavor come from strawberry cake mix. Cream cheese filling for the win!

Ingredients

• Cookies:
• 1 box strawberry cake mix
• 2 eggs
• 3/4 cup shortening
• Frosting:
• 8 ounces cream cheese
• 1/2 stick butter, softened
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 4 cups powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Cookies:
Preheat oven to 350°F.

Mix together all cookie ingredients. The dough will be stiff.

Roll dough into small balls. Place two next to each other on prepared baking sheet. Pinch at the bottom to create a heart shape.

Bake 8 minutes. Immediately transfer to a cooling rack. Cool completely.

Frosting:
Mix frosting ingredients together.

Spread frosting onto the bottom (smooth side) of the cooled cookies. Sandwich together like an Oreo.
