Ingredients
- 1 gallon glass jar
- dill
- 3 heads garlic, peeled and coarsely chopped
- enough cucumbers, cut in spears to fit jar
- 3 Tbsp salt
- 1 tsp alum crystals
- 1 pint cider vinegar
- water
- 1 slice rye bread
Preparation
Step 1
Put half of the dill and garlic in the bottom of the glass jar. Add cucumbers.
Add remaining dill and garlic.
Mix salt, alum and cider vinegar. Pour in jar.
Fill with enough water to cover cucumbers.
Put lid on jar tightly and shake to combine.
Put bread on top and reseal with lid.
Put in the sun for 3 full days.
