Ingredients

- 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Lrg onion, finely minced
- 2 lrg clv garlic, crushed
- . 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 2 6-ounce can tomato paste
- 2 tsp dry basil leaves
- 4 tsp dry oregano leaves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp freshly grnd black pepper
- 2 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes with liquid
- 2 16-ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 sm bay leaf

Preparation
Step 1
In 4-qt saucepan over medium heat, heat oil; add in onions and garlic; cook 4 to 5 min, stirring occasionally till onion is softened. Stir in tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, black pepper. Cook about 3 min, stirring. Add in tomatoes with their liquid, tomato sauce, and bay leaf, increase heat to medium-high. Bring to boil; reduce heat to low. Simmer, partially covered, about 1 hour, uncovering to stir occasionally. Remove bay leaf.
