TORTICA DE MORON

Ingredients

  • 2-1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 2-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 lb. solid shortening
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • Pinch baking soda
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon water

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flours, shortening, sugar and baking soda in a large bowl with an electric mixer until mixture is crumbly. Form small balls with mixture and flatten slightly onto ungreased baking sheet. Brush lightly with mixture of 1 beaten egg yolk and 1 tablespoon water. Bake cookies in 250 degree oven approximately 30 minutes, until bottom of cookies begin to brown. Cookies will look pale. Cookies will be extremely soft when they come out of the oven but will begin to harden as they cool. Let stand several minutes before transferring from cookie sheet to rack.
