Spicy Chunky Applesauce

What a way for homemade applesauce.
So easy and so good.
Much better than jarred.
Ingredients
- 8 to 10 large apples (I mixed sweet and tart)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- dash nutmeg
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 7-1/2 tsp packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon (or more if you like cinnamon)
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp apple pie spice
- Optional: 3/4 cup dried cranberries

Step 1
1. Peel and core apples.
2. Cut apples in half slices.
3. I use a steamer/cooker; if you do not have just put in a non-stick stock pan.
4. Place apples ain pan along with water, lemon juice, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, dash of nutmeg and 1 tbsp brown sugar. If using cranberries, add now.
5. Cook till apples are tender (approx 30-45 minutes)
6. When done remove to container or bowl .
7. Add 7-1/2 tsp brown sugar (more is too tart), 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg and apple pie spice.
8. Serve cold or warm.
Stays in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
