GOLDEN RAISIN BUNS

Ingredients

  • BUNS:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 4 egggs
  • 1/2 cup golden plumped raisins (to plum; cover with hot water, let stand for 5 minutes, drain well)
  • FROSTING (Mix in oder):
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons milk (more to achieve spreading consistency)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teasoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 tespoon vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Combine water, butter, sugar, and salt ina saucepan and bring to a boil.

Add flour all at once and then beat with wooden spoon over low heat about 1 minute or until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan and forms a smooth, thick dough.

Remove from heat, but continue beating for 2 minutes to cool slightly.

Add eggs one at a time beating after each until the mixture has a satiny sheen.

Stir in raisins.

Drop heaping tablespoons about 2 inches aprat on a greased baking sheet.

Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 30-35 minutes until double, golden, and firm.

Remove to wire racks to cool slightly.

While still warm, gently spread frosting over tops and sides.

Serve while fresh from baking.
