Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 2 celery stalks, chopped (with leaves)
- 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
- 9 cups soft bread cubes
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sage
- 1/4 tsp pepper
Preparation
Step 1
Melt butter in saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook celery and onion in butter 6 - 8 minutes, stirring occasionally until tender.
Gently toss celery mixture, spices and bread cubes are evenly coated.
Use to stuff 10-12 lb turkey. To bake remainder separately, grease 3-qt casserole dish. Place stuffing in dish. Cover with lid or tin foil and bake at 325º for 30 minutes; uncover and cook another 15 minutes.
