Ingredients
- 1 pound of good quality steak, cut into bit sized pieces
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3/4 cup diced sweet onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 cup white wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon W-sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Preparation
Step 1
Toss beef in flour and season with salt and pepper. Brown on all sides in butter and olive oil in a large skillet. Remove beef from the pan. Add onions to the pan. Saute 5 minutes until golden. Stir in garlic, wine, broth, W-sauce, soy sauce, and pepper to taste. Stir up all the browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Return beef to the pan; cover. Simmer slowly 1 1/2 hours until meat is very tender. Stir in cheese until melted, and then stir in sour cream. Heat thoroughly but do not boil.
