Ingredients
- COOKIES:
- 1 lb. unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 5 cups sifted flour, sifted
- pinch of salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- ICING:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
- 2 or 3 Tbsp. milk.
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Cream both sugars and the butter together. Add the eggs, one at a time, and blend well.
Mix the baking soda and vinegar, and wait until the baking soda dissolves, then add to the butter mixture.
Add the salt and the vanilla. blend well.
Add the flour a cup at a time until well blended.
Form into a slab and wrap in plastic. Refrigerate ovenight.
Roll out to 1/8-inch thick. Cut cookies with cutters. Place on parchment-lined cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
Decorate with icing.
