- 1 cup milk
- 5 tablespoons flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla

Step 1
mix milk, flour and salt. cook, stirring, until thickened. remove from heat and cool.
cream butter and shortening together; add to cooled mixture with sugar and vanilla.. beat with electric beater until thick and smooth
