Sweet and Sour Green Beans

Georgia uses home canned green beans. I like fresh or
frozen beans better and I don't always have home can
ned on hand. So this is my twist on her recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 quart green beans, drained or fresh
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3-4 slices bacon
  • onion, chopped

Preparation

Step 1

1. Cut bacon into one inch segments.
2. Place bacon and onions in skillet. Cook over medium
heat until browned, stirring often.
3. Remove to plate.
4. Add beans to bacon grease and continue cooking
over medium heat until they are to desired
tenderness.
5. Add vinegar and sugar. Stir.
6. Add bacon and onions back and let simmer a few
minutes, stirring often.
7. Salt and pepper to taste.
8. Cook 20 minutes or until hot
