Ingredients
- 2 onions
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 T Dijon mustard
- 1 t salt, divided
- 1/2 t black pepper, divided
- 1/2 t garlic powder
- 1 T canola oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 c low sodium beef broth
- 1 T corn starch mixed with 1 T cold water
Preparation
Step 1
1. Cut one onion in half; grate one half and slice the other. Slice the entire second onion. In a mixing bowl, combine grated onion, ground beef, egg, mustard, 1/2 t salt, 1/4 t pepper and garlic powder. Make 4 patties.
2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Sear patties for 2 minutes on each side. Remove to a paper towel lined plate. Pour off fat from skillet. In the same skillet, saute sliced onions for 10 minutes over medium heat. Add garlic and cook 2 minutes. Pour in broth, 1/2 t salt, 1/4 pepper.
3. Bring to a simmer and cook, covered, for 5 minutes. Stir in cornstarch mixture. Add patties and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
