casserole for the 90's

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 8 oz ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 can( 10 3/4oz) tomato soup
  • 2 cups frozen chopped broccoli
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 8 oz medium-size shell pasta(4 cups) cooked and drained
  • 16 oz nonfat cottage cheese( 2 cups)
  • 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Preparation

Step 1

heat oven to 350.

heat oil in a large, nonstick skillet. stir in onion and ground turkey, breaking up any chunks with a wooden spoon. cook 4-5 minutes until turkey is opaque and onion crisp-tender. stir in soup, broccoli, worcestershire sauce and allspice. cook 3-4 minutes until broccoli is thawed.

spread 2-3 tablespoons turkey-vegetable sauce in bottom of casserole. cover, in layers, with 1/2 the pasta, 1/2 the cottage cheese, 1/2 the parmesan, and 1/2 the remaining sauce. repeat layers.

bake 35-40 minutes.
