Ingredients
- Honey Butter:
- 1 (1/4 oz.) active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons warm water (105-115 degrees)
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 3 tablespoons honey
- Honey butter
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine softened
- 1/4 cup honey
Preparation
Step 1
Combine yeast and 2 tablespoons warm water in measuring cup let stand 5 minutes. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients in large bowl, cut in shortening with a pastry blender or two forks until mixture is crumbly. Combine yeast mixture, buttermilk, and honey, add to dry ingredients stirring just until moistened. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and knead 1 minute. Roll dough to 1/2” thickness. Cut with 2” cutter and place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
Honey Butter:
Stir together butter and honey in a small bowl until blended.
