fruitcake cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cup dark brown sugar,packed
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 1/2 cup currants
  • 1 1/2 cup cut candied pineapple
  • 1 1/2 cup cut candied cherries
  • 1/2 cup cut candied citron
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preparation

Step 1

cream shortening' add sugar graually and continue beating until light and fluffy. add well-beaten egg yolks and mix. stir vinegar into milk and add to mixture. add dry ingredients and mix well. stir in fruits and nuts. fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheets and bake at 325 for 20 minutes.
