Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 recipe sour cream frosting

- 1 box (16 oz) confectioners sugar
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup melted semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine
Preparation
Step 1
preheat oven to 350. grease and flour two 9 inch round baking pans, set aside, in bowl, combine first 6 ingredients. add next 4 ingredients. with mixer on high beat 2 minutes. pour into prepared pans. bake 25-30 minutes. cool 15 minutes.
spread 1/2 sour cream frosting between layers, cover sides and top with remaining frosting.
sour cream frosting; in mixing bowl, stir confectioners sugar, sour cream, melted chocolate chips and softened butter until smooth and spreadable.
