Ingredients
- The Salad:
- The Dressing
- • 1 tsp. minced garlic
- • 1 tsp. freshly minced chile, any variety
- • 2 tbsp. fresh lime juice
- • 2 tbsp. fish sauce
- • 2 tbsp. sugar
- • 1 ½ cups watercress, torn into bite-sized sprigs
- • 2 cups butter lettuce
- • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
- The Beef:
- • 2 -3 tbsp. vegetable oil
- • 2 garlic cloves, sliced
- • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, cut into ¼ inch thick slices
- • 2 tbsp. oyster sauce
- • ¼ cup fresh pineapple, cut into 1/8 inch thick bite sized pieces
- • 20 fresh Asian basil leaves, cut in half.
Preparation
Step 1
Combine all dressing ingredients; set aside.
Gently combine all salad ingredients and place on a platter.
Heat the oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the garlic and stir quickly until fragrant, about 10 seconds. Add the beef and oyster sauce and cook for 2 minutes. Add the pineapple slices and cook, stirring, until beef is hot, another 1 minute. Transfer to mixing bowl.
Add the dressing and basil leaves to the beef and gently toss to combine the flavors. Arrange the beef in the center of the salad and drizzle the remaining dressing over the top.
Serves 4.
