Ingredients

  • 1 lb. pork or beef stew meat
  • 2 Tbs. oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1 1/2 tsp.. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tsp. thyme
  • 1- 2 cups cut carrots and potatoes
  • 8-10 small boiling onions
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 water
  • 5 Tbs. flour

Preparation

Step 1

Brown meat in oil;
add onions cook until meat is brown and onions are tender;
add 3 cups boiling water, salt, pepper, thyme, and bay leaf, cover and cook on low 1 1/2- 2 hours;
add 1 cup boiling water, carrots, potatoes and boiling onions cook 1/2 hours;
mix 1 cup water and 5 Tbs. flour mix with whip in separate bowl, remove meat and vegetables add to juices let boil , mix with whip to make gravy add more salt and pepper if needed for taste;
add gravy to stew
