Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for rolling

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375F.

Beat shortening with mixer for 30 seconds.

Add brown sugar, baking soda & 1 1/2 tsp cardamom

Beat in molasses & egg. Beat in as much flour as you can with mixer. Stir in remaining flour.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll balls in mixture of remaining cardamom & granulated sugar

Place on ungreased cookie sheet

Bake for 10 Minutes

Cool on wire racks
