Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 375. In large bowl, beat brown sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg white; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for 8 to 9 minutes or until set. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.

TIP: If desire, cookies can be glazed. To make glaze, in small bowl, combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 1/2 tsp skim milk, 2 drops vanilla and, if desired, 2 drops butter flavor. Stir to blend; drizzle glaze over cookies.
