Ingredients
- 6 pounds tart apples
- 6 cups apple cider or juice
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
Preparation
Step 1
1. Core and quarter unpeeled apples; cook in liquid in
large, heavy kettle until soft; about 30 minutes.
2. Press through food mill.
3. Boil gently 30 minutes; stir occasionally.
4. Stir in sugar and spices. Cook and stir over low
heat till sugar dissolves.
5. Boil gently, stirring frequently, till thick, about 1
hour.
6. Pour into 8 hot ½ pint jars; seal and process in
boiling water bath 10 minutes.
