Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees
2. Lightly grease cookie sheets
3. In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar
4. Add egg
5.Add remaining ingredients and mix well
6. Roll into walnut sized balls
7.Dip in sugar
8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are set
9. Cool 1-2 minutes before removing to wire racks to
cool
