Cheese Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Cut in shortening until coarse crumbs. Stir in cheese. Add buttermilk. Stire just until dough clings together. On a lightly floured surface, knead until easy to handle. Roll into 12" circle. Cut into 8" wedges. Begin at wide end and roll towards points. Place point side down on greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 - 14 minutes.
