  • Cake:
  • 1 cups sugar; 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup shortening, 1 stick margarine, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 eggs, beaten, 1 teaspoon soda, 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Icing:
  • 1 stick margarine; 1/4 cup cocoa; 6 tablespoons milk; 1 box of powdered sugar; 1 cup of chopped pecans, 1 teaspoon vanilla

Step 1

Cake:

Sift flour and sugar together. Melt together next 4 ingredients, then add to flour mixture. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla. Pour into large flat pan, bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

Icing:

Bring to a boil margarine, cocoa and milk. Remove from heat. Add sugar, beat. Add nuts and vanilla and spread on hot cake.
