Cake Mix Doctor's Chocolate Kahlua Cake

Ingredients

  • Vegetable spray for the pan
  • Flour to dust the pan
  • 1 (18.25 oz) plain butter recipe fudge cake mix
  • 1 (3.9 oz) chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 8 tablespoon(1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 7 tablespoons Kahlua or other coffee liqueur divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, sifted for garnish*

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Lightly spray and dust 12- cup bundt pan with flour.
Shake out excess flour. Set aside.
3.In a large bowl combine the cake mix, pudding, sour
cream, melted butter, oil, eggs, 4 tablespoons
Kahlua and vanilla.
4. Blend on low speed with an electric mixer for 1
minute.
5. Scrape the sides of the bowl, increase mixer speed to
medium beat 2 minutes more.
6. Scrape the sides of the bowl. The batter should look
thick well combined.
7. Fold in the chocolate chips mix thoroughly.
8.Pour into pan, smooth top.
9. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until the cake springs back
when lightly pressed with your finger and cake is just
starting to pull away from the sides of the pan.
10.Put on wire rack to cool for 20 minutes.
11.Run a long knife along the edge of the cake, invert
onto a serving plate.
12.With a wooden skewer, poke holes in the top of the
cake.
13.Spoon the rest of the Kahlua over the cake, letting it
seep into the holes.
14.Let cake cool completely, 20 minutes more.
15.Dust with powdered sugar before serving

* This is one of the cakes that I glaze with the Black Russian glaze
2 tablesppons vodka
2 tablespoons Kahlua
1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
