Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted Confectioners Sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted all-pourpose flour (Plain Flour)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of cream of targar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter, add sugar gradually, cream until fluffy. Add unbeaten egg and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together dry ingredients. Blend into creamed mixture. Divide dough. Refrigerate dough overnight and make cookies next day.

Snowballs
(1/2 of dough makes 2 ½ doz)

Add ¾ cup of chopped nuts to dough. Chill. Roll into balls the size of marbles. Bake 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees. Roll in Confectioners sugar at once while hot.

Drop Cookies (1/2 dough – 2 ½ doz)

Drop dough by ½ teaspoon on cookie sheet. Press candied fruit or nuts into each. Cook 8 minutes on 400.

Butter Crispies (1/2 dough- makes 3 dozen)

Chill dough 1 hour. Roll on floured pastry sheet to 1/8 inch. Cut with floured cookie butter. Bake 6 min. on ungreased cookie sheet6 at 400 degrees. Cut with cookie cutters-trees, stars, angels, etc.)
