Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 pound spicy sausage (Bob Evan's Hot)
  • 2 large chopped onions
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 can (14 5 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) water
  • 1 large can (25 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes w/ chile peppers
  • 1 can (15 ounces) mild chili beans (Bush's)
  • 1 can (15 ounces) spicy chili beans (Bush's)
  • 4 - 5 tsp teaspoon chili powder (to taste)
  • 1/8 - 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (to taste)

Preparation

Step 1

Spray dutch oven with nonstick cooking spray. Brown ground beef and sausage with 1 onion, oregano, 2 tsp chili powder, pepper flakes and salt. Drain off grease and
add remaining ingredients, reserving chili powder and the 2nd onion. Cover and simmer for 60 minutes. Uncover and add remaining onion with 1/2 tsp chili powder. Simmer up to 3 additional hours, adding '/2 tsp chili powder every 30-45 minutes to taste.
