Ingredients

  • Cake
  • 1 cup butter or oleo
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 1/4 cups plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 8 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanille extract
  • Filling
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 8 egg yolks
  • 1 cup sweet milk or wine (can use bourbon)
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans)
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

Cake:

Cream butter and sugar; add flour, baking powder and milk. Beat egg whites and fold in. Add vanilla. Pour into 3 layer cake pans which have been greased and floured.

Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Filling:



Cook sugar, egg yolks and milk (or wine) until thick. Add remaining ingredients. Spread between layers and on top of cake.
