Twinkie Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 yellow or chocolate cake mix
  • 5 T. flour (mix & cook flour & milk)
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. Crisco & 1/2 c butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Bake cake mix as directed in a 9x13 pan; cool. Boil flour and milk until thick; then cool. Mix sugar, salt, Crisco, and vanilla until fluffy; add cooled mixture and beat on high until fluffy. May add food coloring for variety. Slice cake through middle long ways. Put filling between layers. Refrigerate. Serve with a spoon of cool whip on top of each piece.
