Soft Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. salt (scant)
  • 5 c. flour

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and shortening. Beat eggs and combine with cream mixture. Shift dry ingredients to cream mixture. Add vanilla and rest of ingredients. Cookies may be rolled 1/4 inch thick or dropped. Bake at 350 degrees until delicately brown.
