Ingredients

  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 1/2 cup Warm Water
  • 2 pkg. Yeast
  • pinch Salt
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 6 cup Flour plus more for dusting
  • 4 Room Temp. Eggs
  • 1 TBS Honey (eye ball)

Preparation

Step 1

Melt butter and grease 8 quart rising bowl and plastic wrap for cover.
Warm milk, and butter.
Proof yeast by mixing warm water, yeast, and pinch of sugar.
In mixing bowl mix, milk, butter,salt, sugar, and reconstituted yeast, eggs, honey. Mix with a wooden spoon.
Add 2 cups flour mix, add 1 1/2 cups more, stirring in one direction. Add enough flour until dough leaves sides of bowl and hugs spoon.
Place dough on floured surface. Using dough scraper fold dough on itself flouring surfaces that look wet. Place dough in greased bowl, cover and let rise 2 hours.
Punch down with palm of hand. Turn out on flour surface and divide dought in 1/2. Divide one of the halfs into 6 strangs and roll into long ropes. Braid as follows: 6 over 1, 2 over 6, 1 over 3, 5 over 1, 6 over 4.
Pinch both ends and fold braid in thirds. Rise for 15-30 minutes.
Preheat oven 375*
Egg wash with 1 Egg, 2 yolks, 1 1/2 tsp Water. Strain. Brush dough after it has risen then sprinkle with Poppy Seeds or Seseme Seeds.
Bake 30 minutes.
