Ingredients
- 3 teas. active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water (110-115 degrees)
- 2 cups warm milk (110-115 degrees)
- 2 Tbls butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 3 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 6 to 6-1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 2 cups (8 oz) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Preparation
Step 1
In large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add milk, butter, eggs, sugar, salt and 6 cups flour. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until firm and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in greased bowl, turn once to grease top. Cover and let rise 1 hour in warm place (until doubled). Punch down, turn onto lightly floured surface and knead cheese into dough.
Divide in 1/2. Shape each into a 6" loaf. Place on greased baking sheets and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from pan to wire rack to cool. Refrigerate leftovers.
