Streusel Filled Coffee Cake 0 Picture


  • Cake:
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • Streusel:
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts, if desired
  • 2 TBSP butter



Step 1

Heat oven to 375º. Grease square pan. Blend all cake ingredients and beat vigorously for half a minute. Mix all the streusel ingredients together. Spread half the cake batter in the pan. Sprinkle half the streusel mixture over the cake batter. Top with the remaining batter, then top with the remaining streusel mixture. Bake for 25 – 30 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean. Top with glaze (powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla mixed together to desired consistency).
