    cups applesauce, unsweetened

    cups all-purpose flour

  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1

    teaspoon baking soda

  • ½

    teaspoon baking powder

  • teaspoon salt

  • 2

    teaspoon red food coloring

Directions

Red Velvet Cakes Baked in a Jar recipe . 2/3 cup mayonnaise 3 cup granulated sugar 3 eggs 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 cups applesauce, unsweetened 3 cups all-purpose flour 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/8 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoon red food coloring Prepare jars as for any other cake in a jar. Beat together mayonnaise and half of sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, food coloring and applesauce. Sift together dry ingredients and add to applesauce mixture a little at a time: beat well after each addition. Pour one cup of batter in each jar and carefully remove any batter from the rims. Place jars in a preheated 325 degree F oven and bake for 40 minutes. While cakes are baking heat jar lids until ready to use. Remove cakes from oven one at a time clean rims add lid and bands. Jars will seal as they cool. Makes 8 pint jars.
