Ingredients

  • Sift together:
  • 2 cups sugar and 2 cups flour
  • Bring to rapid boil, then pour over dry ingredients:
  • 1 stick margarine or butter
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • Add to above and mix well:
  • dash of salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 . Mix with electric mixer until smooth.
  • 2 . Pour into an 11 x 16 x 1.5-inch jelly roll pan.
  • 3 . Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.
  • Frosting
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 1 lb confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Step 1

1. Bring margarine (or butter), cocoa, and milk to a boil.
3. Remove from heat and stir in confectioners' sugar and nuts.
4. Pour on cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.
