Apple Crisp

  • 4 c. sliced tart apples (about 4 medium)
  • 2/3-3/4 c. packed brown sugar (4.7 oz)
  • 1/2 c. flour (2.2 oz)
  • 1/2 oats (quick) (1.59)
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/3 c. margarine or butter, softened

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 375. Arrange apples in square pan, 8x8x2 inches. Mix remaining ingredients; sprinkle over apples.

Bake until topping is golden brown and apples are tender, about 30 min. Serve warm and, if desired, with cream or ice cream.

Notes: I often make this in a 13x9 pan and double the batch. I often use less butter and more oats. Generous with the cinnamon and apples. I don't soften the butter but blend/cut it in by hand.
