  • Quick Cookie Mix

  • c. butter, softened

  • 3

    tsp salt

  • 2

    tsp baking powder

  • 6

    c. flour

  • Beat butter, salt & baking powder. Gradually add flour and mix until crumbly.

    pkg (3oz each) cream cheese

  • 6

    tbsp butter, softened, divided

  • 1

    egg, separated

  • 2

    c. quick cookie mix

  • ¾

    c. sugar

  • 2

    tsp almond extract

  • ¼

    c. sliced almonds


Beat cream cheese, 5 tbsp butter and egg yolk until smooth. Add 2 cups cookie mix and mix well. Turn on lightly floured surface, knead 15-20 times until smooth. Roll into 12" square. Spread remaining butter to within 1/2" of edges. Combine sugar and extract, sprinkle over half the dough. Fold dough over sugar mixture, pinch edges to seal. Lightly beat egg white, brush over top of dough. Sprinkle with almonds. Place on greased cookie sheet, bake @ 375 for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool, then slice.
