Basic Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Dry Yeast
  • 1/4 cup Lukewarm water
  • 2 1/2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1/2 teasp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teasp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teasp Salt
  • 1 tblsp Sugar
  • 2/3 cup Crisco Shortening
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • Flour for dusting

Preparation

Step 1

Pre-heat oven 400 degrees

Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside

Mix dry ingredients together

Cut in shortening

Add yeast mixture and buttermilk, Mix well.

Turn dough onto lightly floured surface & roll out to desired thickness.

Cut with biscuit cutter, glass or jar & place biscuits on a sprayed baking or cookie sheet

Bake for 12 minutes or until light brown
