Alexis' Peanut Butter Oreo Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1/2 c. butter, at room temperature
  • 6 oz bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • Double recipe of Peanut Butter Frosting (see my Cream Cheese Peanut Butter Frosting recipe)
  • 10-12 peanut butter filled Oreos, crumbled

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 F. Prepare two 9 inch round pans with butter and flour.

Mix dry ingredients and set aside.

Melt butter and chocolate and stir together. Stir in sour cream.

In a large bowl whisk the sugar and eggs. Then add melted chocolate chocolate syrup and mix.

Sift dry ingredients and fold into the wet ingredients.

Pour into pans and cook for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Once cakes are cooled, place one cake on a serving plate. Frost the center and sprinkle with cookie crumbles. Place the other cake on top and frost. Then sprinkle with remaining cookies.
