Cinnamon Toast Deluxe

By

"A twist on the traditional cinnamon toast, this is a really yummy treat, even more decadent if you make it using both sides of the bread. You can use any type of bread you like, but it's especially good with my Bread Machine Cinnamon Sugar Bread, Cinnamon Sugar Bread, Bread Machine " (Recipe below)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon ( more to taste if desired)
  • 1 slice bread, any type
  • 1-2 teaspoon butter (or to taste)

Preparation

Step 1

Mix the sugar and cinnamon together well; set aside.

Butter one side of the bread and sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar mixture. (You will probably have more cinnamon sugar than you need; save remainder for another use.).

If desired, repeat on the other side of the bread with more butter or margarine and cinnamon sugar.

Heat a skillet on medium heat. Lay the prepared bread slices on the hot skillet and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes or until the bread is nicely carmelized; be careful not to burn the bread.

If you have only prepared one side of the bread, turn for about 30 seconds or so until just lightly browned; serve.

If you have prepared both sides of the bread, turn and cook the other side for another 2 to 3 minutes, or until that side is nicely carmelized and serve.

Ever had a sugar craving and you just need a small something? This is it! I used my hot sandwich press and it could not be easier. Just wipe over the press while still warm to clean it easily (not hot or turned on). Thanks for the recipe!!

I had saved this a long time ago and just got around to making it. What a mistake as it's soooo good. My DGSs love cinnamon toast and this is a great one. I used whole wheat bread as that is what I had on hand but can see where cinnamon bread would make it even more special. I followed the directions exactly except for one small change - I used my George Forman Grill so that both sides toasted at one time - easy and YUM!! Served with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon and everyone cleaned their plates.

Wonderful! I made this on a cool Sunday morning, when I didn't have enough of everything to make French toast or pancakes, yet my teen wanted a homey breakfast. He still put syrup on it, but that's because I believe all teens are pure sugar! My youngest has his with his eggs, and everyone came away saying this was delicious and filling. Thanks for giving our home something quick, easy and thoroughly delicious!

My oldest wanted me to make sure and say to give it 100 stars, cause that's gooder than just five. This was a great Mother's Day breakfast. Everyone ate it, and was happy, the greatest gift of all. Thanks for a new twist (for us), on an old favorite.

For something so ridiculously quick & easy to make, this is absolutely delicious. My mom used to make this for me when I was a child, so it doubles as a nostalgic experience. ;) The ratios of butter:cinnamon-sugar are perfect here. I'm glad you posted this recipe; for those who didn't grow up with it, it must be a very exciting find. Thanks!

My very picky 9 yrs old loved it. He said it was the best toast he ever had. Thanks for a quick breakfast treat.

This brings back childhood memorries. This was my standing order for thursday breakfast. It was made the same way. Yummy.

Yummy! I make this for my husband and I at least twice a week, since we are always rushed getting to work! I only do one side, but make two pieces for each of us. I could make a whole loaf of bread like this! Mmmmm, Mmmmm, thanks for sharing.

I made this this morning using Cinnamon Sugar Bread, Bread Machine #90502, and let me tell you, it was out of this world! It tasted like a delicious coffee cake. The combination is wonderful because the bread itself has a cinnamon flavor.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO yummy and easy!!! I did both sides on whole wheat bread. Will definitely make again, thanks!!!

Oh yum!! I love cinnamon toast but this is so much better. A quick and easy way to satisfy the "fresh from the oven cinnamon bun" craving. Thanks so much for sharing

I like raisin bread toasted for breakfast and when I saw this recipe, I thought what a great way to jazz up the bread. I went all the way and prepared both sides of the bread...it was excellent. A very nice way to start the day!!! Thanks for making my mornings brighter!!!!

This was good, I covered and cooked both sides of the bread. I prefer mine, however, with just one side buttered sprinkled with about a tsp of sugar, nicely sprinkled with cinnamon and then broiled in the oven on a cookie sheet. Can do 6 at one time that way, too.

SO GOOD - quick & easy! I mixed 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon/sugar mixture directly into 2 teaspoons of margarine so it would spread evenly on the bread. I used a slice of very healthy 12 grain & prepared 1 side only. Thanks!

This is one of my favourite morning treats when I want something quick, easy and tasty:)
