Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

By

Surprise man's best friend with nutritious, homemade goodies that can be baked using many of the ingredients you already have on hand

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 2-1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/2-cup all-natural peanut butter (no salt or sugar added)
  • dog-inspired cookie cutters
  • 1/4-cup carob chips (NOT chocolate, which is poisonous to dogs)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine all
Knead Dough
On a lightly floured surface, knead dough until it is firm. If dough is too sticky, add a tablespoon of water, and continue to knead.

Cut Out Shapes
Roll dough to an inch thickness and cut in desired shapes. Have fun with dog-
inspired cookie cutters such as bones, hearts and hydrants. Tip: Be sure to make treats appropriate for the size of the dog. Larger dogs prefer large treats; small dogs will appreciate smaller sized treats

Bake Treats
Place treats on a baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes. Then turn off the heat and let the cookies stand in the oven until hard, from one to two hours.
