Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses

Preparation

Step 1

Cream together shortening, sugar, egg and molasses.
Sift together dry ingredients, and add to sugar mixture. Roll spoonful of dough into a ball, coat with granulated sugar, and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes.
